August 2020 Vineyard Update

August 8th 2020

Verasion (Pronounced : Ver-A-Sion)
It's finally that time of year again! Verasion is the mark in the growing season that indicates harvest is on its way. The phenomenon describes the color change in red and white grapes from green to purple or yellow, respectively. For the wine-making team, verasion also means that all harvest equipment must be inspected, cleaned and organized to prepare for the upcoming 2020 Vintage. Out in the vineyard, grape berry samples are being taken from across each vineyard. The samples measure the grape's sugar and acid content so that we can track the ripening progress in each vineyard. This gives the winemaker an idea of when specific varieties will be ready for picking.
