Beaujolais Nouveau Day 2019!
November 21st 2019

Nouveau [nou•veau] adjective, French: 1. newly appearing, arrived, or made 2. new and different, often fashionably so
Inspired by the French Beaujolais Nouveau, winemaker Mike Mitchell utilized a nouveau winemaking technique called carbonic maceration to make a light, fruity, easy-drinking red. The result, our 2019 Merlot Nouveau! The tradition of Beaujolais Nouveau is a release the 3rd Thursday of November. It is the first release of harvest and a way to celebrate the end of the season. In the US, this release lines up with Thanksgiving and the fresh, fruity, low tannin nouveau wines are the perfect addition to the feast! Nouveau wines are youthful, bottled just after harvest, and meant to be enjoyed right away. They are dominated by fruity flavors, posses low levels of tannin, and should be served slightly chilled. Our 2019 Merlot Nouveau is vibrant, zesty, fresh & delicious! Another tradition of Nouveau-style wines is the use of a different artist designed label for every new vintage. Our 2019 label is a design, "Waves at Sunset", is by local artist John Mitchell. The different label designs represent the fact that every release of a nouveau wine is new and different. Each bottle is an expression of the harvest and a preview of what is to come! The thing to remember about nouveau-style wines is that they are festive and fun! They are what the French call "vin de soif" or thirst-quenching and easy-drinking. Cheers!
