2018 Vidal Blanc Harvest
BRIX: 22.4 Tons: 6 Vineyard: 15 Rows from Sandman Vineyard (1.5 acres)
It was no holiday weekend for our production team! They spent their entire weekend picking grapes and processing the berries. Early on Saturday morning our team began harvesting Vidal Blanc from our Sandman Vineyard in North Cape May. The fruit they collected came in much better than expected due to all of this rainy weather. After the crush and press on Saturday, the Vidal juice was pumped directly into one of our stainless steel tanks to begin fermentation. We commonly refer to Vidal Blanc as the "workhorse" of the vineyard because it is able to withstand the changes in weather we have here on the East Coast during harvest season and it is such a versatile grape. Our Vidal Blanc will be used to produce Cape May White, Lighthouse White and the Isaac Smith White Port.
