July Vineyard Update 2021

July 5th 2021

Fruit Set and Bird Nets!
In the vineyard we have moved past bloom and are into grape berry formation. After a successful pollination, grapes the size of small peas will form on each cluster. Throughout the months of June and into July, the small green berries grow and mature, building the qualities needed for a successful harvest.
At this time the vineyard staff are busy with canopy management to increase air flow and sunshine in the fruit zone. Mechanically, on the tractor we will be hedging back (a vineyard "haircut") the vines to make sure that each plant puts maximum amounts of energy into ripening its clusters.
